Thinning & Lacing
This process includes the cleaning of the crown, and inside areas of the foliage by removing selected branches in order to increase air and the penetration of light. The light can stimulate and maintain the trees interior foliage and increase airflow that is necessary for its overall health. In addition thinning out clumps of foliage and heavier limbs allow the tree to become less susceptible to the “wind and sail” effect. This is when the tree can break due to high winds or access foliage on the tips.
Our teams climber will ascend the tree with climbing safety gear, ropes, and trim selected branches to promote the tree’s health. The ground crew will gather all branches and haul them away in our trucks and dump trailers. If needed, chippers will be brought along to aid with the thinning and lacing process.
